About us
We are Norm, Piper, Soana and Courtney - a team of post-graduate students studying in the Master of Human Rights degree programme at the Auckland University of Technology. Our studies have covered a broad range of human rights issues, with a particular focus on the human right to adequate food and the Healthy School Lunch Programme - Ka Ora, Ka Ako.
We passionately believe in human rights and how they are exercised, as well as why they should be exercised. Human rights are indivisible, and there should never be a case where one person’s rights are denied in favour of another person. Our research project on the human right to food and the healthy school lunch programme aimed to highlight that children from one school may be denied the benefits of the lunch programme that children in other schools receive, thereby exposing direct discrimination and a breach of human rights.
